SARAH

YOU ARE DEAD TO ME!!!

Happy Birthday Brudder

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LANDON!!!
Today is my brother Landon's 24th birthday. Wow!! If he is 24, then I am OLD!! He is a great brother though and I just wanted to tell him that I love him and hope he has a wonderful day!!
Top 5 greatest things about Landon (in no particular order, except for #1):
#5: Landon is an awesome example in our family. He is so kind (now that we are older) and he loves his family. He has a strong testimony and started the missionary streak in our family when he served a mission in Antofagasta, Chile.
#4: He is a great baseball player. Well, at least he used to be... ;)
#3: He is freaking hilarious!!! When our family is all together we don't stop laughing and most of it is because of Landon. He is constantly quoting movies. My favorite is Dumb & Dumber!! "Pull over...pull over!" "It's a cardigan, but thanks for noticing!"
#2: He is the best younger brother a girl could ask for! Honestly, I always wanted an older brother, but I made due. Landon has always stood up for me and taught me how to fight. At least fight with him...
and the #1 reason why Landon is so great:
He and Haley have given me the cutest nephew in the whole world!!
Love you Land!!
Kyle, Landon, Haley, Jen & Michelle
I also just had to post this picture that I love. It is of all my siblings at
Landon and Haley's wedding, May 26, 2004.

Matchmaker

For some strange reason recently I have had a major urge to set friends up with other people I know. I have never done this in my life...well, sort of. I set up my brother and sister-in-law when they were in high school, but I don't really count that. Although I probably should since they did get married! Anywho, this last week I had two successful set ups.

The first was my friend Heather (I work at the temple with her) who I set up with my cousin's best friend Brian. Both gorgeous people and not having very good luck in the dating arena recently. So of course, I set them up. They went out last monday night and again on saturday. I'm pretty proud.

The next was my old roommate Shana and my good friend Brian. (different Brian...I promise...see the picture?) I wanted to set them up because they are practically the same person. Just different genders. When I told my friend Ty this he reminded me that, "that is the most important difference." Thank you Ty. Shana lives in Boise, but came down last week to visit. Perfect opportunity for a blind date! She and Brian went out on Saturday and according to both parties, they had a good time. Brian is going to Boise in a couple weeks to visit his brother, so I'm hoping he will give her a call.

I also have a plan to set up my coworker Sarah with my friend Jake. She likes guys that have biceps as big around as her head, and his are pretty dang close. We'll see what happens.

So I've become a matchmaker for my friends recently...now I just need to work on finding someone for myself!!

Anyone know of anyone?

Hablas espanol?

My mom, who is one of the nicest people in the world, works at a credit union and the other day had a customer who came in and demanded someone who spoke spanish. My mom was the only one who spoke any spanish at all, but according to this lady it wasn't good enough. Finally, after trying to help this woman my mom said, "we speak english here!" At least mom said it nicely! ;)

After telling the story to a coworker, he sent my mom this link. Hilarious!! I'm taking the stance that because I'm part hispanic I can laugh at this and I give everyone else permission to laugh also. Enjoy!

Choices

I'm not very good at keeping new year resolutions, but I made some this year that I think are going to be great. Not anything that I shouldn't already be doing. It's just staying steading and keeping the course. It's all about choices. In fact, I have found a thought that is becoming my theme for the year. It is a quote by Steven Covey and it is amazing. Here it goes:

"Somewhere between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space lies our freedom and power to choose our responses. In those choices lie our growth and happiness."

Powerful!! I hope it inspires you like it has inspired me. Life is all about choices and making the choices that bring the most growth and happiness.

911

I've never had to call 911 until the other night. My roommate Jenni had a couple ovarian cysts that ruptured and I had to take her to the hospital. But she couldn't move by herself and I couldn't get her to my car, so I called 911 and an ambulance came. Of course, since it has been Christmas break no one is home and I tried to call anyone I could think of that could help me. But to no avail. The paramedics were really nice though and got her to the hospital. Not fun at all! I ended up spending most of the night in the emergency room with her. I was supposed to be picking up my friend Tyler from the airport at the same time that this was all happening. Gratefully, he is such an awesome guy that he just waited until I could get away from the hospital and go get him. Thanks Tyler! It was a crazy night and I was so exhausted after I got home that I slept yesterday morning. It felt great! Being at the hospital made me very grateful for my health. I have had some scary things happen the last year with my health, but overall I can't complain. I have never had to stay overnight in a hospital, I've never broken a bone or had surgery. I have been very blessed. I need to remember that more often.

On a different note, does anyone know where 2006 went? My mom always said that the older you get, the faster time flies and I am really beginning to believe it! This last year went soooo fast and I don't know how I feel about it. It was a wonderful year, I just was hoping to have gotten a few more things done. Well, I guess it means I get to work a little harder in 2007.

Here's to a great upcoming year!
